How to draw Tara
Tara is always fun to draw. Actually, I generally like to draw girls more than guys, especially with their various hairstyles. Grab your pencils and ready a piece of paper, because I'm going to show you how to draw Tara!
When doing a pose I'm not used to, I start out with a stick figure. You can see I already started the head and shoulders. It may seem like a strange pose now, but it'll make more sense in a second.

You can start to see the form of the pose. I used a curved rectangle to frame the torso. Tara has a fairly thin frame. Her hips are not very curvy, and she has small breasts. Ever since the comic's conception, the idea was to make her the least sexually attractive female in the comic (besides Maria Fee, I guess), but still with a sort of teen cuteness. When I created the comic the intention was to make a group who didn't fit in with the normal social crowd, and it wouldn't be realistic if a totally hot girl wasn't being asked out left and right.
Here's a body comparison between Tara and Diane. Diane, despite being more developed, is shy and refuses offers, which fits in with the whole theme of this group of close-knit friends who only have each other.
Of course, I don't even try to be this anatomically correct when I draw PU comics.

Now we're getting into some the details. I usually draw a T-shirt and jeans on all my characters. I know very little about fashion.
The hair is pretty simple, it's just the two spikes of hair in front and a wide ponytail. The top of the ponytail comes to almost a right angle from the usual 3/4ths view. You usually see her from this angle, so let's take a look from a couple other angles.
Make note that her hair worn in a ponytail is about shoulder length. As a treat I'll show you what Tara would look like if she ever took off her trademark purple barrette.
Moving on!

We now have the completed sketch! Make sure you draw Tara's eyes sparkly. No one else, not even Diane has shining eyes. Their eyes are all dark. Here's a close-up of Tara's eye, it's not hard to draw.
From here, just use a pen for the outline and erase the extra pencil marks, and there you have it!
