Objection!- This was based on a real conversation I had with my brother, word for word in some panels. I was wrong, we did have school Monday. My art teacher was wrong, probably because she didn't teach any classes on Monday or Friday anyway and got the days confused.
"Beat the Game" Syndrome- Pheonix Wright was a truly awesome-sauce game. So awesome I felt bad when it ended. Not too long after, there was an actual report on the radio of a woman who was found dead in her car trunk and it was assumed to be a suicide. I actually said "That doesn't sound right, to commit suicide in the trunk of a car. It must have been murder!"

David's a Tad Upset- My computer had been acting strange for quite a while. The CD thing wouldn't open and close, meaning
I was completely unable to use Photoshop. When it comes to drawing comics contributing to the plot, I would prefer to use Photoshop.
Forgot Something- This comic was written in December (that's how late I was in updating the arc), which was around the time the Wii came out. If I'd actually been able to get this comic up on time, the joke would make more sense. Surprise Attack- Seriously, it takes forever for Pokemon Pearl and Diamond to save. Just enough time to be distracted during a soccer game.

Quick Thinking- I had the next part of the storyline planned since before this arc started, so I really did know where
I was going with this for once. I wonder if it was a planned strategy for David to distract long enough for Brian to get the ball. That's just the
sort of underhanded tactic Brian'd use, it seems.

September 2007 |
Kicking Jutsu- In elementary school, I loved to announce a super long name before throwing the ball in four-square. "Super Duper Custom Patented One and Only Shooting Star Shot!" which in turn is a reference to Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars, where the kid is playing with the Geno doll and knocks Mario out. Of course, "super special awesome" comes from Yu-Gi-Oh: The Abridged Series.
| Depressed- Just some filler. Diane apologizes for ducking from the ball. At this point I had a general idea for the next storyline, but I had no idea what to do for it. It would take me an entire year to come back and continue into the next story arc.
October 2007 |
Tele-DS- I don't know why I've never heard of people doing this. It's more cost effective than using the phone, or so I would think.

November 2007 |
Imposter- I introduced this character almost on a whim. "What does this comic need to attract the type of people who would get the references in my comics?" I thought. These days most of my comics involved games, and Phoenix Wright 3 was coming out, so I created Maya Fey lookalike Maria Fee. At first my intention was to use her for only a couple comics and move on, but maybe there's more to her story that I could tell. For one, why does she look like Maya Fey? Look out for her in a future story arc.
| Traits of Gamers- I have observed many people while they're playing a game. I'm guilty of drooling, and my vision goes white and all I can see is the TV screen because I'm focusing too hard. But that's only happened a couple times. OBJECTION!- Another filler. I had a sketch of the "OBJECTION" icon lying around and figured I should use it.
January 2008 |
Thinking with Portals?- A couple internet friends were going on about how great Portal is, so I decided to give it a try. It's easily my favorite FPS game, because it's not so much an FPS as it is a technically challenging puzzle game. The last level is scary, I swear to you that I was seriously scared that I'd have nightmares of it.
| New Approach- This and several others in the next few months were made for school, and you can tell that I benefited from the class. Notice how much more background appears as time goes on. As for the comic, I have a tendency to tune out things and pick up on only words of interest to me. February 2008 |
Annoyance in Stereo- I dare you to crack your fingers in a quiet but crowded room. About 60% of the time, someone else in the room will crack their fingers too. I believe it's done subconciously. But in reality, it doesn't bug me. My record is getting three other people to crack their fingers.
| April 2008 |
Fool Me Twice...- Since I had nothing planned for my third anniversary, I decided to redo an old comic that I still like today. Since it was part of an arc, I had to change around the circumstances as to why Brian needed money, but besides that this comic is almost an exact copy, only improved.
