July 28 No update today, on account of being at camp. Don't worry though, there should be time to work on the next comic, and I'll scan it when I get back.
Dang, and I really thought I was getting better at updating, too. Nevertheless, I finally finished this one, which marks the beginning of a new arc since nearly a year ago. Last year, when I finished the soccer arc, it was my intention to introduce Brian's sister immediately afterward, but I never got around to organizing my ideas for that arc until now. Depending how lazy I am, this arc will probably be roughly 8-10 comics long, definately one of my bigger ones. That's because this arc may be significant to the plot, if this comic ever had one.
Sorry for being late (actually, more than a week late, but you know that), but I had a couple tests in the past week. Keep looking for the new comic today or tomorrow, I should have it up quite soon. Actually I'm a little ahead in a sense, because for this arc I've actually written out tentative scripts for every comic. I'm tired of starting arcs without knowing how they're going to end, which is pretty much how I've been doing it until now (can you say "Rocko's Modern Life?).
Okay, no new comic today, but for once I have a great excuse. I was working on the How-to-Draw Tara Tutorial and so I couldn't get the beginning of the new arc up in time. I don't want my first arc in a year to start out looking cruddy, so hopefully I'll have it finished by next week. In addition, I actuallly updated the archives with all the comics in the past year and with the usual commentaries. See you all next week! Oh yeah, I should mention that you can find the Tara Tutorial in the Extras section, which has finally dropped the silly rainbow title.
This will be the last school comic I wiill show. I don't like the rest. You may notice that this isn't actually a Population: Us comic. In this assignment We had to choose a comic and basically copy it. Being the Calvin and Hobbes fan I am, I had to do this one. It's a harder style to copy than you might think. I think I should update the archives soon.
Get it? Because Tara was just trying to be polite? Sorry, even I thought this joke was a little dry.
I'm officially back now. For the next two or three weeks I'll be showing my school comics, then it's back to the new stuff. The planning for the next arc is coming along nicely.
Okay, I'm back. This week is Fanime! To the people who come to this site after attending the "Webcomics: Behind the Scenes" panel, thanks for visiting! And make sure you check out my friend Annaliese's comic, Ensuing, too. For the next few weeks I'll be posting the comics that I made during the semester for one of my classes. What you're seeing now is my 2-page final. Go back one to see the first page. I should mention that this comic stars kid Brian, about seven years old. We get to see the origin of the "Hyper Mega Ultra Super Special Awesome Kicking Technique."
I know I said I'm on hiatus, but I had to come back for the anniversary. It's been three years since I started this comic on the 24th. Wow. Anyway, I used this comic for class. I kinda cheated, because this is almost a complete rip-off from a previous comic. But it gives you a chance to see some improvement, so that's pretty cool. Okay, back to hiatus!
